Dark Sky Farming Process Work
Final Design project for fifth year MArch Architecture at the University of Greenwich. Dark Sky Farming is constructing a new 'Dark Sky Park' in The Fens. With investigations into light pollution and the loss of darkness, a proposal has been formed which creates a new designed dark sky landscape. The dark sky park landscape has been engineered to produce completely clear dark skies with the Dark Sky Observatory forming the optimal space for stargazing. Darkness has been studied through photography, experimentation and grading to form a set of evidence images and analytical drawings, these inform ways to trap light and reveal through darkness. The Dark Sky Observatory is carved to observe celestial events and forms an inverted sky dome through its artificial crater shape, allowing the building to become the telescope through which we see the night sky.
